Course Aim
Learning Outcomes
On course completion delegates will have the knowledge to:
MODULE 1:
Landfill gas
The session will introduce DSEAR, landfill gas odour, fire and explosion
MODULE 2:
Electrical Hazards
The module will examine the cause of common electrical hazards and the effects of electric shock:
MODULE 3:
Tools, Plant and Machinery
The session will introduce PUWER, employer and employee duties, hand tools and specific risks
MODULE 4:
Lock Off and Isolation
The session will demonstrate lock off / isolation, procedures, why? what? when?
MODULE 5:
Fire Safety
The session will highlight risk of fire associated with power stations, along with precautions against spills and leaks:
MODULE 6:
Working at Height
The session will discuss in detail the hazards associated with all forms of access and egress including the importance of the risk assessment process, the safe use of ladders and stepladders, the use of scaffolding including erection and dismantling, the use of both scaffold towers and mobile scaffold towers and working on roofs, confined spaces and excavations and stress. In addition candidates will be made aware of the varied precautions which can be taken
MODULE 7:
Environmental
The session covers current and future environmental requirements, safe storage and marking, waste control hierarchies and emergency planning in the event of problems
The Safety Pass Alliance work with employers, employer associations, Trade Unions, NTO and other relevant bodies to design and develop training programmes tailored to suit each sector
